My Daughter’s Inspiration

While our vacation was short on time, it was long on inspiration.  My daughter decided she was inspired by the scenery around her.  That makes this Mama very happy.  At one point, before we left, she was undecided as to whether or not she was going to go with us.  You see, there were tickets to a Fergie concert that could be hers from her other parental unit.  The concert was when we would be gone.  I don’t know if she decided it would be worse to miss out with all of us or a twinge of guilt kicked in, but whatever it was, I’m thankful she decided to go.  The day we left to come back home, she said she thought we should come back to South Haven next year and stay for a week.  I felt that was so encouraging coming from a teenager who would have rather remained an only child most days. We’ll see how the ol’ hormones are swinging when the time rolls around next year.  Know what I mean?  Even if you do not have a teenage daughter residing in your house, surely you remember the angst of your teenage years.

Well, back to the subject.  Most of the pretty pics that we got she took from our evening at the beach.  I think I will encourage her to look at beauty around her, the beauty that God puts around us, with this new eye she found.

She thought the seagulls were kinda cool, until they thought she was kinda cool and wanted to know her better.  She was laying out and would cover her head when they flew too low.  What she didn’t know was that my DH and our friend were tossing broken pretzel sticks by her so the gulls would like her even more.  Poor girl!

I just think the waves in the lake were cool – evidently she did too.

I think I might make this a pic to hang in our house.  You want one too?

I like the little bit of wavy on this one from the rays of the sun setting.  Maybe I should get her her own blog and she can post pics.

What else to say here but, Ooooo and Ahhhhhh.

Blessings & Hugs, Elizabeth

  1. She really did do a great job on those scenery shots. You should sell them to a calender company or something like that!!

  2. A picture is worth 1000 words they say, so if she doesn’t want to blog she can upload them onto flickr …
The artist in her is revealed through the cameras lens, just as God is revealed in the nature she captured.

When our kids were much younger, we did a similar trip … to Door County Wisconsin. It’s the perfect family getaway and so beautiful. Then we took the S.S. Badger Lake Michigan Carferry from WI to MI and visited Holland and South Haven all along the way home. Swweeeet Memories.

  3. Beautiful pictures! Beautiful scenery! I think she’s on to a new hobby…

  4. Those are gorgeous!!!
